We’re passionate about style and design, and endeavour to translate unique homewares and furniture into the homes of everyday people who prioritise the look and feel of boutique products over the monotony of mainstream goods.
Our journey first began when brand founders, Kathryn and Steve noticed a severe lack in choice of furniture and homewares in her local area. Benefiting from the freedom of working as an Interior Stylist, her observations were further consolidated in the discovery that many of her friends' and clients’ homes exhibited the same trends in furniture, artworks and textiles, resulting in a bland and uniform standard of styling devoid of individuality and taste.
This discovery sparked a vision: to offer a curated collection of affordable homewares crafted from small-batch production and designed to retain their interest and value in the home long after their mass-produced landfill-destined counterparts.
A visit to Byron Bay revealed an eye-opening range of Australian-made furniture and homewares that regrettably weren’t available in her hometown of Sydney. A passion to launch a boutique store was ignited! And so, ur place was born, opening in Sydney in 2015.
From those early beginnings, ur place has continued to bridge the gap between the client and their dreams, offering individualised, sophisticated designs and visually pleasing minimalist themes. Our range is monochromatic, appealing to customers who want sleek options to blend seamlessly with their existing pieces.
This connectivity between people, products and ourselves offers the opportunity for a dialogue that is both inspiring and educational. In this way, we aim to make design accessible to the everyday person, as well as dispel the myth that interior design and style is expensive and beyond people’s reach.
